Governor Cyprian Awiti this morning hosted the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Kenya Country Director, Dr. Ademola Olajide who paid him a courtesy call.
Dr. Ademola, led a team on a mission to strengthen the existing partnership with the county government in the areas of youth development, access to family planning, reproductive health information and commodities.
He said the Agency is proud to be associated with the County Government of Homa Bay and pledged their unwavering support in various areas.
On his part, Governor Awiti applauded the support and work done by the organization during the last six years particularly through provision of a state of the art ambulance and a utility vehicle for health workers.
He noted that during the period, UNFPA has spent over sh50m in his County in support of the health sector.
Deputy Governor Hamilton Orata who also attended the meeting appealed for partnership between the County government and UNFPA in addressing the runaway teenage pregnancies in the county.
