SILVERSTONE AIRLINES LANDS IN HOMA BAY ON INAUGURAL FLIGHT
Silverstone Airlines this morning commenced the maiden flight on the Homa Bay route, a move poised to boost tourism and open up the county for business opportunities.
Speaking to the press after jetting in with the flight, Deputy Governor H.E Hamilton Orata said he was impressed with the confidence the management of Silverstone Airlines had in introducing early morning daily flights from Nairobi to Kabunde Airstrip.
“Homa Bay has the traffic and potential to sustain Silverstone flights and we pledge our full support to the firm,” He said.
According to the Deputy Governor, Silverstone Air will assist in opening up the southern tourism circuit with destinations such as Ruma National Park benefiting.
“We continue to open up Homa Bay for Tourism and Business via easy communication as we seek the expansion of such facilities,” He added
The fastest growing low cost carrier has now added Homa Bay to its growing list of destinations it connects.
Silverstone Airlines’ Chief Operations Officer, Mr. David Odhiambo said the airline has deployed a Dash 8-100 type of aircraft that has a capacity of 37 passengers.
“We have set an introductory fare of Sh6,500 for a one-way 45 minute trip from Nairobi and will seek to introduce evening flights if demand dictates,” He said.
Kenya Airports Authority representative Seline Agor, pledged commitment to upgrade Kabunde Airstrip by continuing to work closely with the county government.
The event was graced by Singer and Entrepreneur, Esther Akoth, County Assembly Speaker, Hon. Evance Marieba, Akothee Safaris Tours and Travel, Ms. President 2019, Nereah Aketch, County Executive Committee Members, Members of the County Assembly and Miss Tourism Homa Bay among other guests.
