HOMABAY SECURES 25 MILLION TOWARDS UNIVERSAL HEALTH PROGRAM.
The County Government of Homabay through the Department of Health has received a total of KSH 25 Million from two Swedish based organisations towards the promotion of universal Healthcare in the County
International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD) and Center for Rural Medicine have provided funds for the three year project that is expected to revolutionise Healthcare in the County
Deputy Governor Hamilton Orata while speaking during a luncheon hosted for the delegation from Vasterbotten County Council in Sweden lauded the two organisations for their support but implored them to consider extending assistance to other areas.
County Executive Member for Health Professor Richard Muga revealed that the said funds were received following a proposal that was made by his Department.
He added that the funds for the program would be used to address Governance issues in the Health sector.
Professor Muga clarified that the County Government will also provide counterpart funding towards the same project
The County Assembly’s Majority leader, Hon. Walter Muok who also attended the luncheon confirmed that the August House has already passed the Community Health Bill which will address the plight of the Community Health Workers.
