HOMA BAY GOING CASHLESS IN REVENUE SYSTEM
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga yesterday launched a cashless mode of payment that will enable local residents to remit their taxes through dialing *603# and paybill number 0434343.
The cashless system that will reverse the past trend of substantial revenue pilferage will make it easier for all taxpayers, including those at the grassroots to pay their dues at their location.
Speaking while unveiling the cashless mode at Kabunde social hall, Governor Wanga said her administration has come up with measures to enhance customer experience.
“We are now ready to fully roll out our revenue collection activities, under a more organized and better
structured system,” Governor Wanga said.
The Governor noted that no revenue officer shall be handling any amount in cash in a bid to seal all theft loopholes and also increase the County revenue from negative 34 percent annually to 1 Billion.
“All revenue officers will be given targets and there will be corresponding performance-based rewards and sanctions to enhance our revenue collection,” She added.
Governor Wanga said her administration has commenced the process of establishing a Revenue Board to provide strategic oversight in revenue collection and accounting process.
“An Internal Audit Committee will be put in place to mitigate revenue leakage risks as we adopt a new revenue administration structure which will streamline authority, responsibility and accountabilty relationships,” said Wanga.
The deputy governor, Oyugi Magwanga said the government remains committed to ensuring that living standards of residents of the county improves.
“Enhancing our revenue base is the only way we can achieve our development goals,” he noted.
