GOVERNOR WANGA READY TO IMPLEMENT TASKFORCE REFORMS
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga today received the county revenue taskforce report from the chair Hon. Polycarp Okombo following conclusion of a forensic audit of the financial operations of the county government’s revenue collection system.
The report handed over to the Governor listed many issues that have brought about revenue leakages leading to poor revenue collection.
Sixty days ago, Wanga formed a task force on revenue administration to help streamline the system to get optimal revenue mobilisation.
“We thank the taskforce for a conclusive report within a short period of time and we now have a huge task in raising our county’s revenue to Sh1billion during the current financial year,“ Governor Wanga was speaking to journalists at his office this afternoon.
Wanga said the county is making good progress in the 60days after consultations with county boda boda association and beach management units, who form largest revenue source.
“We are determined to hit our potential and trun our fortunes for effective implementation of our development agenda,” She said.
The county boss however warned revenue personnel on handling cash, stressing the need to embrace the cashless system that has effectively worked in model counties.
The taskforce chair who is also the county executive member for Trade, Hon. Okombo gave robust recommendations to prevent revenue pilferage.
“We recommend the establishment of county revenue board and have presented a new finance bill, 2022 to help us implement our revenue reforms,“ He said.
