Governor Awiti today hosted the Principal Secretary for Water and Sanitation, Mr. Joseph Irungu who was on a mission to track the implementation of Homa Bay Cluster Water Project, the Kendu Bay and Oyugis flagship water projects.
The Governor later officially opened Nyakwere market. He commissioned the 10,000 capacity market that will serve traders from Homa Bay and Kisumu counties. The Governor said the market which had been a joint project by the UN-Habitat’s will be an economic catalyst to bring about an increase in investments and trade.
“This modern market will encourage compliance and increase collection of fees. Furthermore, this market is expected to trigger a ripple effect in the area by increasing economic activity and reducing the level of unemployment,” He said.
