Genowa Governor’s cup tournament continues to groom talentsBushnell Odhiambo
The Genowa Governor’s Cup tournament is set to enter the subcounty level tomorrow, with exciting games scheduled in the two Suba sub counties.
Mbita Town Juniors and Foundation FC will kick off the action in Suba North, while Nyabomo and Victoria football clubs will start things off in Suba South.
A total of 600 grassroot football clubs and 300 netball clubs participated in the competition, with the top two teams from each of the 40 wards moving on to the subcounty level.
The subcounty games will take place on various dates, with Rangwe and Karachuonyo set to close out the competition on the 11th. The organizers have praised the discipline and sportsmanship displayed by the teams and fans during the tournament so far.
This first edition Genowa Cup tournament has been a thrilling competition so far, with talented teams from across the county coming together to showcase their skills on the pitch.

The sub county games to take place at Onundo and Nyakiamo stadia, will feature a mix of seasoned veterans and up-and-coming debutants. Historical rivals Nyandiwa United and Nyakweri FC will also square off in a highly anticipated match.
Organizers of the Genowa Governor’s Cup have praised the discipline and sportsmanship displayed by the teams and fans, and are looking forward to an exciting finish to the competition.
“We are pleased and more encouraged, by not only the turn out of both teams spectators but also by the decorum, entertainment and sportsmanship exhibited so far,” Hon. Sarah Malit who is the CECM in charge of Sports was speaking to players and officials before the start of the matches.
She praised the high standards of discipline and sportsmanship displayed by the teams and fans throughout the tournament.
As the Genowa Governor’s Cup enters the final stretch of the subcounty level, fans and teams alike are gearing up for a thrilling finish to the tournament. The competition has been a showcase of stadia talent and sportsmanship, with exciting matches taking place at Onundo and Nyakiamo.

The games will continue on various dates, with Ndhiwa and Homabay Town set to play on the 6th and 7th, and Kabondo and Kasipul set to take the field on the 8th and 9th.
The competition will conclude with games in Rangwe and Karachuonyo on the 10th and 11th.
