Efficient Service Delivery Pledge by Newly Sworn-In Board Members

Governor Gladys Wanga has urged the newly appointed municipality board members to provide high-quality services to the people of Homa Bay.

The Governor emphasized the importance of team work and asked the new appointees to work towards a vision of transforming their various municipalities into urban set ups.

“You have been given the task to offer services to the great people of Homa Bay within your jurisdictions. Do not let them down.” Wanga said.

She made the remarks on Wednesday during swearing in of county municipality board members at her office.

The county boss congratulated the newly appointed Municipality Board Members and commended the County Assembly of Homa Bay for moving with speed to approve 32 out of the 34 nominees she presented to the Assembly.

“You must now be vibrant and ensure residents get better services in all sectors,” She said.

She urged them to uphold integrity even as they discharge their duties of delivering clean Municipalities.

“Work as a team for the good of the people of Homa Bay and address the challenges facing residents of your Municipalities including garbage and drainage.” She added

According to the governor, the Municipalities will stand to benefit from funding from Kenya Urban Support Program (KUSP), Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project (KISIP) Kenya Urban Development Support Program (KUDSP) among other funding entities to improve basic infrastructure within the Municipalities.

The governor appointed Mr. Antipus Abdalla Nyambok, Geofrey Odhiambo Nyasuda, Collins Otieno Okoth, Wycliffe Omonge, Dorcas Odada, Charles Omondi and Esther Achieng’ Okello.

The Five Municipalities include, Homa Bay, Oyugis, Ndhiwa, Kendu Bay and Mbita.

Other Board Members include; Mary Anyango Gaya, George Olweya, Dan Were, Solomon Ouko, Davies Abila and Jared Ouma.

Also appointed were Mrs. Mary Atieno Opiyo, Joseph Otieno, Prof. Gordon Nguka, Jared Onyango, Gordon Odhiambo, Caroline Atieno Oguta, Joyce Wanjiru Ngugi, Tobias Ouma, Tony Ogolla, Luke Amayo, Opuk Musa Ochieng’ and Mariam Sauda Juma.

Mbita Municipality Board Members are Alphonse Okuku Nyangweso, Lorna Aoko Owino, Peter Omondi MakOdida, Okumu Stephen Nyakan, James Ochieng’ Opere, Samuel Onyango Nyabwana and Doreen Owiti.

On their part, the commissioners thanked Governor Wanga for having faith in them and promised efficient service delivery to the County residents.

The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor Oyugi Magwanga, County Assembly Speaker Hon. Julius Gaya, County Secretary Prof. Benard Muok, CEC Members, County officials and members of the public.
