COUNTY EYE CENTERS GET HAND WASH FACILITIES TO BOOST COVID-19 FIGHTBushnell Odhiambo
County Chief Officer for Education and ICT, Mr. Wilfred Awuor distributed 58 LifeStraw handwashing facilities to 24 Early Years Education centres across the 8 sub-counties early this morning to enhance the fight against covid-19 and protect child health.
Homa Bay government has been on a partnership with LifeStraw Vestergaard in an elaborate strategy to promote public health standards in EYE centres, which has seen 1,790 water purifiers distributed to 398 primary schools so far.
Mr. Wilfred Awuor commended Lifestraw Vestergaard by acknowledging the good relations with the partner over the past four years. He said the county government was keen to empower the programme and appealed to sub-county directors of EYE to ensure the facilities are put into proper utilization.
LifeStraw county coordinator, Gerald Adhaya said the 20-litre capacity hand wash facilities will provide a cost-effective means to combat the coronavirus pandemic within our EYE learning institutions.
He added that LifeStraw Vestergaard was committed to strengthen partnership with the county administration to provide safe drinking water to school-going children.
County Director of Education, Mr. Biko, Sub-county directors of education and various officials, were among guests present during the launch.
