Two hundred and seventy five bright but needy students will benefit from the Sh. 30 million full scholarship fund introduced by Governor Gladys Wanga.
The ‘Fins-to-Swim Governor’s scholarship scheme is a revolutionary program meant to salvage brilliant learners from poor families by supporting them to access education.

The governor officially launched the new scholarship program aimed at empowering the academically promising scholars who qualified for this scheme. The ‘Fins to Swim’ program will provide full coverage of school fees and incidental expenses for the needy students from all 40 wards in the county.
“Our goal is to give these bright scholars of Homa Bay the support they need to succeed,” Governor Wanga was speaking today during the launch event at Homa Bay School.
“Investing in education is investing in our future, and ‘Fins to Swim’ is our commitment to shaping a brighter future for them.” She added.

The scholarship program will cover the full cost of high school and university studies for its recipients, ensuring that financial barriers do not stand in the way of their academic pursuits. It is expected to have a significant impact on the education and future prospects of the students who will benefit from it.
The county boss announced that her administration will boost the Bursary programs kitty to empower more students from the 40 wards.
County Executive Member for Education and Human Capital Development, Hon. Martin Opere emphasized the importance of investing in education through such schemes.
“We believe that education is the key to unlocking a better future for our youth,” Opere said, adding that, by providing scholars with the necessary support, we hope to see them succeed in their academic and career pursuits and make a positive impact on our community.
