Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti held discussions with health partners to address malnutrition, which is a major cause of child and maternal deaths.

The two-day workshop brought together representatives from European union (EU), DSW, International Medical Corps, KRCS, WOFAK and CARD. The project ‘Improving Nutrition for Women and Children’ is funded by the European Union and is being implemented by civil society organizations together with health authorities at the county level.

Governor Awiti noted that nutrition is a multi-sectoral issue and pledged commitment in partnering with like-minded non-governmental organizations to scale up the fight against malnutrition.

European union, western Kenya regional director Mr. Titus Katembu, WOFAK chair Dr. Dorothy Onyango, County Director of Health Dr. Okomo, County Nutritional coordinator, Mr. Aila and DSW country director were among officials present during the workshop.
